I realise i’ve been gone for a long time so I apologise for my disappearance! I think I went into early winter hibernation… but since the clocks have gone forward and the sun is starting to come out again, i’m back! Does this make me a fair weather blogger?!
To be honest, the last year has been hectic, moving down to Birmingham, starting a new job and all that jazz…it was a really big move and something I’m quite proud of. It wasn’t quite London, but it was still brave in my eyes! However, there’s been a lot going on recently too… the biggest event being moving back up North! Don’t get me wrong, I really enjoyed living in Birmingham, being independent and having a flat with Sam, working with and meeting new people etc, but we are true Northerner’s at heart and the lure of the Northern luxuries (…) brought us back! Exciting times!
This post is just a catch up really of what’s been happening lately. The title is inspired by a beautiful wedding I went to on the weekend. It was so gorgeous and the weather was unbelievably perfect! I figured now that summer’s round the corner there will be a lots of panicking girls wondering where to start with the perfect summer wedding outfit. I thought I would do the hard bit for you and find a few different looks to help you out!
Pastels are a fail safe palette to fall back on in Spring/Summer – it’s a cyclical trend, so buying anything in these gorgeous muted shades will guarantee you get your money’s worth for years to come. This year I’ve noticed an edgier take on the trend, the unlikely pairing of black and pastel; this goes to show there are endless ways to style and make something your own. Pretty dresses and leather jackets – go for it!
Don’t be afraid to stand out at a wedding…as long as it’s not because you enter the ceremony wearing a full length sweetheart neckline white lace number that is….
Bright coloured outfits are good transition pieces from day to evening so they cover all grounds. There are loads of citrus colours milling around at the minute, and if you step into ZARA it’s like lemon central! Just be sure the tones you wear complement your skin; if you’re fair it can be quite tricky to pull these off, but try them and see what you think! In my opinion, Nicola Roberts always looks fantastic in colour, contrary to fashion norms.
As with Pastels, nautical is a trend that has it’s place each year. I love this trend; there’s something about colour blocking red and blue that just looks amazing – very Parisian chic I think. Incorporating this style into a summer wedding outfit would be so cute; as long as you don’t opt for espadrilles or boat shoes….Go for muted and sleek accessories and let the outfit do all the talking.
Wedding accessories don’t have to be all fancy fascinator’s and coy little clutch bags that strain under the weight of your lippie… I think it’s important to keep formal occasions up to date and classic simultaneously. Personally i’m a lover of big and bold accessories (clutch bags to rival laptop cases, that sort of thing) but at the same time subtle and muted too; this way, you can wear them relentlessly with everything!
I hope this post more than makes up for my little disappearing act! To make it more attainable and to enjoy a work life balance, my aim is to update once a week (probably on weekends) …and if I manage to fit anymore in, then it’s a bonus!
Thanks for reading – hope you all have a great weekend! (it’s Friday tomorrow!!)
